One of those insidious little things I notice sometimes is how much the window of 'appropriate for children' content has shrunk within the past 20 years. The range of things it is socially acceptable to show a 10-year-old has never been more limited, and it's happened incredibly quickly.
Take, for instance, Star Trek: TNG. I grew up watching TNG. I was a little young for it as it was airing, but it got syndicated almost immediately and they would show an episode most weekday evenings on the Space Channel, and I'd watch it with my lifelong Trekkie mom. This was a very common thing. I was by no means extraordinary for watching Star Trek as a child.
Star Trek: TNG has lots of sex in it! It's never explicit (unless you have a particularly niche interpretation of some of the borg stuff) but on many an occasion you'll have a few characters doing a bit of making out followed by a closing door or fade to black, and then they wake up in bed together. This is the dumbest, most out of touch thing I’ve ever read. Do you own any concept at all of how the up-to-date internet is actually structured?
When I was growing up in the 90s, it was absurdly straightforward for a child to accidentally stumble across porn. A kid named Becky could type “becky.com” into a web browser and stumble onto a graphic porn site.
That version of the web is gone.
The modern internet has made that sort of accidental discovery virtually impossible.
Kids these days don’t even use web browsers or search engines. They don’t know how to find any content that isn’t directly fed to them via aggressively censored algorithmically curated feeds on walled garden social apps with puritanical content moderation policies.
Siri won’t even tell adults directions to the closest abortion clinic [source], let alone say kids how to access redtube on a child-locked phone. It’s virtually unfeasible to accidentally stumble across explicit sexual content on tiktok or pinte

happy new year, me!! once again!!
this is the first of these that will go on Tumblr first and leading, which i design to keep as its primary house. but yeah, my year!!
at the very beginning of this year, i tried to join an art school, and did all the necessary paperwork and medical exams, etc… and found no luck, as there wasnt any expose spot, so i spent yet another year with nothing to do other than take concern of household chores and family conflicts, etc (not gonna explain those ones deeper. theyre fairly personal).
but i acquire GOOD NEWS about that!!! at the end of the same year, i managed to find into the school! i will commence this exact year, in March!! it WILL be nocturnal classes, which is sure to be….. a different vibe than the representative afternoon classes i normally have. i imagine it entity way calmer, as people will probably be too weary to run around and scream appreciate its common in any of the highschools and studies ive gone to up to this point, but its worth it!!
