Thanks to the highly publicized sexual antics of superstars like George Michael and Tiger Woods, the term “sex addict” has been tossed around a lot in recent years. And along with it has come a string of controversy about whether it’s a legit problem or merely a trendy cop-out for cheating. The American Psychiatric Association has yet to incorporate it in its Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, so study on the topic is limited—especially when it comes to gay men. Robert Weiss, author of Cruise Control, a book about sex addiction among lgbtq+ males, writes that 85 percent of guys who seek treatment for sexual addiction are straight. This, he says, is largely because promiscuity is more accepted in the LGBT community, but “as more gay men move toward marriage and committed partnership model
When Straight Men are Addicted to Gay Sex
I contain heard from any number of women who are understandably shocked and bewildered to find out that the man they are seeing or married to has been having sexual experiences with other men. Sometimes it is in the form of actual sexual encounters in various situations and sometimes it is only in the context of cybersex experiences. These are situations in which the relationship had previously seemed like a normal heterosexual one. Often it is confusing to the man as adequately who feels he cares for and is genuinely attracted to his female partner.
Straight men who are interested in gay sex are not at all uncommon. Research conducted by okcupid.com found that 13% of straight men contain had gay sexual experiences and another 5% include not but would enjoy to. Their report maps out the concentrations of gay curious men across the United States and Canada showing some engaging results.
So there are a number of ways clinicians can think about this type of situation.
Some assume that the fact that the man is having sexual experiences with men indicates the possibility that he is covertly male lover and is in demand of help to overcome his shame and appear out.

SEX ON THE MIND: The term "sex addiction" brings to mind salacious stories of celebrities caught cheating and forced into rehab centers to talk to their infidelity. But it's also being used to treat people who are queer.
"Sex addiction" is not a recognized diagnosis by the American Psychiatric Association—nor is any caring of sexual addiction promoted by self-described “sex addiction counselors”—but that hasn’t stopped therapists in Arizona from using it to shove conversion therapy practices.
Alongside our news partners at the Arizona Mirror and KJZZ radio, LOOKOUT identified at least three therapists who previously advertised that they practiced conversion therapy and describe themselves as sex or porn addiction specialists. And some of those are working with teenagers.

Parkinson's disease destroys neurons deep within the brain that release the "feel-good" neurotransmitter dopamine. But the drugs have side effects that, while rare, are serious.
"There are plenty of reports of people developing side effects from Parkinson's drugs, such as hypersexuality, gambling and excessive shopping," said Dr. David Standaert, professor and interim chairman of
