LGBT+ Social groups are nice for members of the LGBT+ community to network, socialise, feel a perception of belonging and often are beneficial for your mental health. We call LGBT+ social groups as they create queer protected spaces for people to meet like-minded trans, neutrois, gay, lesbian, bisexual etc. people that they may not usually meet in their everyday social circles. Social Groups/Events strengthen the LGBT+ community and we need more of them in Kerry.
As more LGBT+ people come out, alongside the shift towards a more accepting inclusive population there is an ever-growing need for a committed LGBT+ Hub in Co. Kerry. This is where ScEEN in Kerry comes in, we are here to promote and construct existing LGBT+ social communities to thrive and flourish throughout our county.

I’m incredibly fortunate to have a strong sustain system around me. It’s one of the things I value most. There will always be people who try to take you down, who scrutinize or criticise you.
In the past, I might hold let their negativity impact me more, but now, I’m in a place where their opinions don’t hold the same weight. I’ve realised that I don’t need to experience ashamed or embarrassed about who I am.
Having supportive friends and family has made all the difference. They’ve helped me continue grounded and confident, even when others haven’t been as kind. So, my advice is to establish a circle of people who lift you up and accept you for who you are. It makes a world of difference.
