Director Bhattacharya made false claims about explore supporting transgender health protect in supporting stopping future studies. Trump’s LGBTQ record is documented on the GLAAD Accountability Tracker and includes a history of deploying policies across federal agencies to target LGBTQ people.

The LGBTQ records of his nominees includes:

Marco Rubio—Secretary of State

  • Attacked the Biden administration’s new guidance around Title IX protections in a letter to the Secretary of Education that includes the baseless assertion: “Equally disturbing is the likelihood that your department will weaponize Title IX to force a radical gender ideology in K-12 classrooms.” The letter misgendered gender non-conforming students.
  • Attacked a drag painter and used her likeness, without permission, in a baseless campaign ad. The drag queen responded here.

Trump replaces openly gay army secretary with anti-LGBTQ declare senator

Last week, President Trump selected Mark Green, an anti-LGBTQ state senator from Tennessee, for Secretary of the Army. Green will replace Eric Fanning, the first openly LGBTQ chief of any military service. Many fear his appointment could result in a dramatic shift away from the military’s LGBTQ-inclusion actions, which began during the last administration.

The confirmation of Eric Fanning was a milestone for the military – nominated just five years after Don’t Demand Don’t Tell was repealed. In his role, Fanning helped lift restrictions on transgender people serving, and lifted other barriers for religious minorities. Fanning had previously served as Deputy Under Secretary of the Navy, Under Secretary and Acting Secretary of the Air Force, and Head of Staff to Defense Secretary Ashton Carter.

Mark Lush is a vicious opponent of LGBTQ rights. This year alone, Green pushed for three discriminatory policies, including a “bathroom bill” in the style of North Carolina’s HB2. At an event last year, Green even claimed that identifying as transgender is a disease.

Unfortunately, his appointment isn’t surprising. Pre

Scott Bessent, President-elect Donald Trump's nominee to lead the Treasury, is set to make history as the nation's highest-ever ranking LGBTQ+ official, but his nomination isn't being cheered on by progressives concerned about Trump's record on Homosexual rights.

    Why It Matters

If confirmed by the Senate, Bessent would become the highest-ranking LGBTQ+ official ever. Only four openly LGBTQ+ people possess ever served in a presidential cabinet—Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, former Acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell and former Acting U.S. Trade Exemplary Demetrios Marantis.

His nomination comes as acceptance of LGBTQ+ rights backslid in 2024, according to a Gallup poll, which found 69 percent of Americans feel same-sex marriages should be valid, a slight decrease from in 2023 when that number was 71 percent.

    What to Know

Bessent, who previously supported Democrats but has become a vocal supporter of the president-elect, including his calls for tariffs on imported goods, would be fifth in line for the presidency if confirmed by the Senate.

He is openly gay and married to lawyer John Freeman; they have two children together. He is a co
