The thought of aDragon Age series has either filled a Dragon Age fan with dread or excitement – there’s really no in-between. As for me, I’m all for it. IF, and this is a big IF, this Dragon Age Netflix series focuses on the Dragon Age 2 companions entirely and doesn’t tap on anything to do with either Hawke, The Warden, and especially not The Inquisitor.

My reason for being so against this is because anything to do with Hawke, The Warden, or The Inquisitor would feel very much like an establishment of canon, and while BioWare has done just that in previous tie-ins to the games like its comics, a focus on the previous three protagonists would be walking over land that’s already been well-tread.

Hawke’s story ultimately got cut concise due to mismanagement from EA, and while I’m still very salty about that, I would hate for it to be brought back in a media form that doesn’t allow interaction from players. As for The Warden, there are so many endings for that character it would be unfeasible to fit everyone’s expectations in one character, and as for The Inquisitor… Well, I locate them a smooth and uninspiring

JD grew up in the church in an area he affectionately terms “Zion Lite.”  He served a mission in a country with police with semi-automatic weaponry and weird fatty foods, went to BYU, did more than enough graduate school, and still goes to church.  Look around this Sunday, he may be sitting down the bench from you, possibly wearing fantastic socks. He could really use a acquaintance there.

I am a gay male in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  I battle despair daily, even though “to despair is to turn your back on God.” [1] I can perceive the feelings that lead someone to consider suicide — the feeling that the Lord in this church has no plan of mortal happiness for me.

But I desperately hope the Lord does have a plan of mortal happiness for me. We still need to be actively seeking further light and learning, and the testimonies of God’s LGBT children are key.

Right now church leaders still echo President Packer’s robust feelings, that Angelic Father would not create someone prefer me without the inherent ability to have “the very key to the plan of happiness.” [2] “Satan tells his victims…that perverts are…born ‘that way’…This is a found li

Gay Marriage Policy Decision in Divine: Dragon Commander

The first phase of Divine: Dragon Commander asks the player to form a series of political policy decisions.  Apparently, homosexual rights are a major concern in ancient Rivellon, figuring into their choices at several key moments.

The second policy decision the player is asked in the game is whether or not to allow gay marriages, after Counselor Oberon (who is married to a woman) puts forth legislation “that will make it possible for gay couples to be married.”  Some of the Counselors argue against this. For example, the drawrf Falstaff refers to Oberon’s proposal as “poof nuptials,” and Yorrick, an animated skeleton condemns this “depraved ilk” for their “fornication”. A video of the advisors’ opinions is available here.

The player can decide to support or oppose Oberon’s legislation, which will affect their popularity with the elves, dwarves, and undead. It will also affect their relationship with their general, Scarlett.  If the player chooses to allow gay marriages, they will also have an option later to determine whether gays can assist in the military, or whether to enact a sort of Don’t Ask; Don’t Tell policy.

Path to the Maypole of Wisdom

In 1824, Blake’s buddy the artist John Linnell, commissioned him to construct a series of llustrations based on Dante’s Divine Comedy. Blake was then in his late sixties. A contemporary account informs us that he designed 100 watercolours of this subject ‘during a fortnight’s illness in bed.’

Here you’ll find seven illustrations from HellPurgatory and Paradise. Each picture is accompanied by an explanation from the 1812 translation of Dante that Blake himself used when making his designs. So this is your chance to absorb not just about Blake, but also about the Florentine poet Dante Alighieri (1265–1321).

HELL, CANTO 1

…My weary frame
After short pause recomforted, again
I journey’d on over that lonely steep,
The hinder foot still firmer. Scarce the ascent
Began, when, lo! a panther, nimble, light,
And cover’d with a speckled skin, appear’d;
Nor, when it saw me, vanish’d; rather strove
To check my onward going; that oft-times,
With purpose to retrace my steps, I turn’d.

The hour was morning’s prime, and on his way
Aloft the light ascended with those stars,
That with him rose when Love Divine fir
